How to Build the Life of Your Dreams
Share

Are you using the power of your imagination to build the life of your dreams? Probably not! It never fails to amaze me how few people or businesses have a clear vision for their future.

Every company needs a clear vision in writing that has been properly communicated and that is shared by everyone in the company of where the organization is going and how it is going to get there. This gives everyone involved a shared goal. A call to arms so to speak.

The same applies to each human being. They need a picture in their head, inspiring them, driving them, to a future that they have clearly designed in their mind. Yet most of you don’t have a clue to the future you want to live. You can say the life you’re living isn’t great, it needs to improve but you can’t say with any clarity what the perfect life would look like. So how can you expect to ever achieve it? You need to get clear on a future picture and this means designing your life. You need a vision for your future, the life of your dreams.

It’s easy to get so caught up on our day-to-day life that we forget what we want our life to actually be. Instead we need to be driven by our future, not dragged down by our current situation. You need to constantly think about the life of your dreams. A life that you can describe in detail. A compelling vision of how you really want your life to be.

“The past cannot be changed. The future is yet in your power.”

Think of the architect when creating a building. He sees it first in his mind, gets it down on paper then produces the technical plan of how to bring his creation into the real world. Well it is time you came the architect of your own life. To find the ‘perfect vision’ of the life of your dreams.

I don’t want you regretting what you have failed to do to this point. That’s simply a waste of time. So, you didn’t become an astronaut, a pilot, an inventor, a top sportsman. Maybe you still can? Wherever you are in life, however old you may be, you can still achieve so much more. First you have to decide what that is.

Every individual or organization should have a vision that is driving them forward. It is essential.

What do I mean by ‘vision?’

It is a set of dreams and long-term goals we hold on to for the future. A vision defines our desired optimal future state; it tells of what we would like to achieve over a longer time.

It is important that you create your own ‘future life vision’ because nothing will change in your life until you have designed your vision for the future! Without anything to look forward to, what reason do you have to do anything?  What reason do you have to get out of bed? So make it your priority to take time out to daydream to use your imagination and focus on your future, the way you want it.

I’ve found that what most people lack in life is a really compelling vision.  In fact, it’s not that most people are lazy or bored, it’s that they have an impotent vision – nothing to look forward to. You need to use your imagination to create this vision. The power of imagination is a powerful mental ability we all possess. To create one’s future we must focus on what it is we want.

“A vision is not just a picture of what could be; it is an appeal to our better selves, a call to become something more.”

Rosabeth Moss Kanter

How do you start creating this vision of the life of your dreams? You ask these questions and try to think about the answers.

  • What do I value most in life?
  • What are the most important things in my life?
  • What is most important to me?
  • What is my life’s purpose?
  • What legacy do I want to leave?
  • What do I most want to accomplish?
  • What would make me happy?
  • What would I do if I could do anything?
  • What would my life look like if it were perfect?
  • Where do I want to see myself in a year, five years – and perhaps ten years down the road?

Don’t just read these questions. Take time out to think about the answers.

The only limits placed on your vision come from you.

Right now, for you to be able to move forward you have to stop that negative voice in your head saying I could never achieve my perfect life vision, it’s impossible. Nothing is impossible, and you have to begin battling back against your limiting beliefs which are most likely the very reason why you haven’t already achieved the goals you want to achieve. Not only are you good enough, you are capable of achieving your dreams. Having a positive belief will in its own right empower you and together with the right tools enable you to take huge strides forward. The fear of failure, of not being able to achieve your goals, probably has held you back more than anything else so far in your lifetime. The perfect life process is designed to start turning things around for you. To start removing the negative barriers and to start unlocking the potential for greatness.

I was working with a client yesterday. He seems trapped by his fears of the future. Every day he focuses on trying to prevent things happening rather than working on making what he wants to happen.

I felt it important to introduce him to the law of attraction. The Law of Attraction tells you that you have the power to determine the course of your own life, to accomplish great things and acquire great riches by using the power of your own mind.

“Remember, you attract to your life whatever you give your attention, energy and focus to, whether wanted or unwanted.”

Michael J. Losier

When you don’t see anything but dark days ahead with all the negativity imaginable, according to the law of attraction we can only bring upon ourselves more negativity. To live driven by fear and negativity is simply crazy.

You should spend as much time as possible imagining your ideal future. Visualize yourself as if your life were perfect in every way. Let this vision inspire you and give you the inspiration to step out of bed every morning. Your vision unlocks your deepest motivations.

Let me make this clear. Our job as humans is to hold on to the thoughts of what we want, make it absolutely clear in our minds, and from that we start to invoke one of the greatest laws in the Universe, and that’s the law of attraction. You become what you think about most but you also attract what you think about most.

If you haven’t already seen the secret movie by Rhonda Byrne check it out on Netflix.

“Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine and at last you create what you will.”

George Bernard Shaw

I guess most of you have never taken the time to create this vision in your mind. You need to take that step now. Let yourself daydream for a while and visualise what a perfect life will look like in 5 to 10 years.

You have a clean slate, and you can start over—right here/ right now. Find your joy and live it!

Let me help you to get started right here right now.

Let’s look at 4 of the key areas of life.

Beginning with your financial situation.  Start projecting forward 5 to 10 years in the future. I get my clients to look to their next landmark birthday whether its their 30,40 or 50th birthday. If your financial life were perfect how would it look? How much would you be earning? How much would you have in the bank? How much would you be saving and investing each month and each year? How much are you worth? How much have you invested for your loved ones? You’re creating your perfect life as if everything has gone perfectly. For now it’s a fantasy, but you have the power to make it real. So, just imagine that you could create your life perfectly, what would it look like?

Let’s now move on to the second key area which is your career or professional Life. Remember you are projecting forward 5 to 10 years. How would your work situation look? What would you be doing? Where would you be doing it? Who would you be working with?  What kind of skills and abilities would you have? What kind of goals have you accomplished? What position or status are you in your field? What have you achieved?

The third key area to cover is your health. If your health was perfect in every way how would it be different from today? What weight are you? How often do you exercise? How much energy would you have? What sort of lifestyle would you have? How would you look and feel? What would be your overall level of health? What changes would you have made in your diet, exercise routines, and health habits to be enjoying this new physical health?

The last area has to do with your family and your relationships. If you could project forward 5 to 10 years and your life was perfect what kind of relationships would you have? Who do you love and by whom are you loved? How much intimacy do you have? What would your family life look like? Who would you be with? What kind of relationships would you have with the most important people in your life? What are your significant relationships? What sorts of things do you enjoy doing with your family and what sorts of things do you like doing with your friends? Soon you will be looking at the steps you need to take to move from your current reality so to create that perfect future, the life of your dreams and to determine what would be the first step?

Take small steps, but don’t forget to create and imagine the vision of the life of your dreams. Keep believing in the potential you have, and make sure you are emotionally connected to the larger vision to keep pushing forward.
