You may have exciting hopes, dreams and visions for your future but do you have the courage to allow yourself to take the risks necessary to turn them into reality. Courage can move your life forward, but nothing works until you know what you want to be, do and have.

We all have the power to change our lives, it lies within us. We are never too old to go after our dreams. When the time is right you will know it and then you will bring together everything you need to bring it about.

I know for me that it took a variety of circumstances and events to get me to the point where my mind said ‘enough is enough’ and my mindset became one that was no longer prepared to feel myself being battered in the winds of life. Instead I wanted to create my own personal whirlwind removing all the debris laying around my feet and move my life to a far better place. To do this I had to have a dream to go for. Not just something written on paper but a clear dynamic vision.

I set about using all of the knowledge I had acquired over a lifetime to determine what it was I needed to do.

I created a goals list and then took my three main goals and did a plan to see how I could bring each to fruition. I also did a mind map allowing my brain to record every thought and idea it held within it. Then I created a vision board depicting everything I wanted to have. Each of these in their own rights is an incredibly powerful tool, but I can’t say they brought me to the point where I could feel my life beginning to transform.

It took my final failure as I saw it to get me to a place where I could finally find the answers I was looking for.

It was the day my wife informed me that she was leaving me. I had previously fought so hard to try and keep things in my life but had lost it all. For three years I had battled and struggled but to no avail. So this time I just let go, didn’t put up a fight just accepting her wishes.

I remember the next morning getting into my car and driving into the countryside. I sat a while and was empty. No thoughts in my head. I was in what was a meditative state. Then the thought entered my head. You are starting life all over again so what do you want to be, do and have.

I got out the car and just began to walk. I could hear the birds tweeting away, smell the dampness of the grass and feel the early morning sun on my back. Time after time I heard the words inside my head ‘who do you want to be, do and have.’

I remember smiling to myself. For the first time ever I was being my own life coach. I recognised the tone of voice, the repetition of the words, it was exactly how I’d handle a life coaching session with somebody facing the same kind of struggles as me. I responded internally with the words ‘I truly don’t know’ and straight back came ‘I know you don’t know but let’s just say you did, what would you want to be, do and have…see it hear it, feel it.’ So I kept walking and intentionally kept asking myself what do I want to be, do and have. I must have repeated this 20 times.

Suddenly from nowhere a picture of a movie I’d recently watched came into my mind ‘Jumper’ where a teenager found he had teleportation skills and he could transport himself to any place in the world. Then the movie changed, not a word of a lie, I began to see my life play out into the future. I saw life as my subconscious knew I wanted it to be. I was brought the pictures in vivid imagery of what I wanted to be, do and have. Now was my time and I was ready to transform my life.

My suggestion to you if life seems to be nothing but a struggle or you keep asking yourself is this all life is meant to be, first change your questions now start to ask yourself what is it I want to be, do and have. Then take time out and go to a place where you can be at peace, relax and turn your mind of and just focus on that one question what do you want to be, do and have.

As I said a few days ago on my blog never give up hope.
