His band sold 14 million singles, 50 million albums and played to sold out stadiums and arenas all over the world. His name is Shane Filan and the band was Westlife. A few months back I was reading an article in a National newspaper which said that although he had built a vast fortune, he had lost it all in property investments that went wrong. This ended with him being declared bankrupt with debts reported at £18 million.
His recovery is going to seemingly be easier than most, because he is able to launch a solo career and will undoubtedly make a great success of this. But recover from bankruptcy you can, you just have to find your route to recovery. I know investigating this it’s hard to find anything constructive or useful online showing a bankrupt’s route to recovery
Even Donald Trump filed for corporate bankruptcy in 1991, 1992, 2004 and most recently, in 2009. He has never claimed that he was personally insolvent, which has enabled him to continue running his business empire. it can happen to anyone, so stop hanging your head.
I am one of the thousands, maybe millions of people who have gone on to rebuild my life after personal bankruptcy. I am no longer embarrassed or ashamed to talk about it as I was in the early days. It meant going without many things for a while, no holidays, wearing clothes that eventually got a bit tatty, no meals out, very few nights out, and for about a year, no car.
When it happened I was emotionally devastated.
Life is truly known only to those who suffer, lose, endure adversity and stumble from defeat to defeat. Ryszard Kapuscinski
Let’s be honest, when you’re going through bankruptcy and trying to get your life back on track you are existing simply in a survival mode with little thought to anything else particularly your future. You’re living day by day trying to make ends meet. You have to get out of this doldrums way of living as quickly as you can, because believe me it’s holding you back. You have to stop merely surviving and start living and believe you can develop your bankrupt’s route to recovery.
I may have been bankrupted and had my glorious home repossessed, I was never made homeless or find myself starving at any point, yet things were bad, really bad. I still had options available. I may have lost the battle however the war was not over.
I hope that my voice here on my blog will help others on the bankrupt’s route to recovery. I genuinely want to make the difference, and by telling my story I can help others find inspiration. If you have not got yourself of your knees, do it now, start today and don’t stop.
Only you can make the decision to rebuild your life. It was hard work, it took time, effort and plenty of struggles. At first I did completely the wrong thing, I buried my head in the sand and simply carried on working in my dying business. It took two more events to strike me down before I was truly able to change everything around.
What is defeat Nothing but education nothing but the first step to something better. Wendell Phillips
First there was my eye operation that forced me to seek a new path for my career. Then there was the end of my 20 year marriage which was the catalyst for the big push I was able to give my growth and progress.
First of all I’ve decided to take my blogging seriously. I’d already made a start on this at www.healthylifestylesliving.com/blog but I now wanted to ramp it up and revitalise my life coaching business and help others on their road to recovery. After all my life had seen me achieve fantastic success, so not only could I follow the example of what I’d done to do it so could others. But now I could also show them the mistakes to avoid.
One extra reward from blogging was I was able to attract advertisers who wanted to promote their products on my blog. Examples of these were Holland and Barrets and even British Telecom.
Circumstances also assisted me in finding some brilliant products that were perfect for my niche, and had very little activity online. So we took these products and built an ecommerce store at www.slimexpress.com. This took off and helped me create a good income that really set me on my way.
We also launched an Amazon Sellers Account and were able over a time build a fantastic market for our products.
So we strived to have several streams of income coming in. Soon we will be launching our very own product, that will make the difference, and change lives. The key to being successful online. You absolutely can succeed when you produce something valuable for many people.
We then went from strength to strength. And then opportunities started to happen.
I’m busy working on my free report “Top 10 Tips to move from Failure to Success” that will be available on my website in January and this will show the most important things I learnt and applied to my life that have been able to move everything forward.
Through it all, I persevered. I got up off the mat, and found a way to overcome all obstacles and troubles that came my way. You have to lift yourself to get where you want to be.
The truth about being bankrupt is that it can be exhausting and demoralizing. And although that part of my life caused a lot of heartache and embarrassment, I’m so glad that I was able to learn all of those lessons first hand. Now that I’m on the other side, I use those experiences to help others showing them the bankrupt’s route to recovery.
