What do you need to take a business online? There are actually quite a few things that are essential for an internet business to perform well. One is have the right products to sell.

One of the most important factors in creating a successful online business is knowing what to sell online. Finding the perfect product to sell is often the most important step in creating a profitable and growing company.

You need to avoid the endless number of scam, gimmick, or other junk products that are out there.  To build a truly prosperous, meaningful business you need to build it around genuinely worthwhile products.

You see we built up our online presence. We got people’s attention through the website we built. Blogging was the key component of building our online presence and when this is supported by social networking and first class SEO skills you have a good formula for success. It gives you the platform from which to do business, but without the right product you have virtually nothing.

We have learnt a lot in the last 18 months about selling online, and finding the right products. But we have learnt one other essential lesson.

Of equal importance we have come to understand about the importance of the relationship an online retailer has with their supplier. Unless you can create a working ‘win-win’ partnership you will not create a high value relationship for either of you.  The relationship needs to be a two-way street, working for each other, loyal to each other, supporting each other, so you bring benefit to each other.

The right on going working relationship with your suppliers will make the difference between setting the market place alight or not, it really is of that much importance. When you get this right anything is possible, you can take products and build them to an incredibly powerful position online.

It’s advantageous for manufacturers in particular to create such partnerships online with retailers because they many are currently failing to optimise e-commerce strategies and our losing out on huge levels of revenue.

Both the retailer and manufacturer have to work together to get these products positioned. Each brings to the table their own particular expertise. When each uses these in the right way and they combine them together r them magic can happen. You can only maximise your returns when you manage this relationship effectively.

So treat your supplier as an extension of your business not the enemy. Make sure you have the right products to sell and when you do enjoy your success online.
