I see the journey every entrepreneur takes as being a voyage of self discovery.  As an entrepreneur I have for a long time realised that there’s always more to learn and we’ve always got room for improvement. We are evolving all the time.

By implementing a process of continual improvement amazing things will happen in your business.

At every stage in your business you must be clear as to where you are right now, focus on where you are going and be certain of your plan of action that will get you there.

At times you have to be incredibly courageous, particularly when admitting to your mistakes. There may be times when you realise you’ve gone off course, and then you have to be willing to tear up the old map that wasn’t working, and start plotting a new course.

In support of everything I do, the thing that has got me where I am at this point, and that will see my journey through to the destination of my choice is my resolute belief within me that I cannot fail. Imagine the power, the ease of making decisions you would feel if you completely believed nothing would ever stop you from achieving your dreams, and in particular building your incredibly successful business. If I determine that the direction I may have gone off in was wrong, I’d stop, re-strategize, and get myself back to the right place.

It is so important to reaffirm that you are building the business that is the one you want, allowing you to do the things you want to do. There has been a large number of people I’ve met who realise that the business they have created is not the one they want.

I get them to truly see the big picture, and within that I get them to visualise exactly how everything will look and be in the future. Once you visualise success, it is easier to achieve it, particularly since you now know what it looks like. This inspires you and keeps you focused on taking action toward your ultimate vision of your life.

The worst thing that can happen to any entrepreneur is to lose their big idea. To get off track. When you do you lose your essential spark, the magical trait that differentiates you from everyone else your business loses its edge, it’s no longer fun, in fact it seems to be a lot of hard work.

You just don’t “feel” quite right but don’t know exactly why.  You’ve been successful in the past but just don’t have the motivation and drive to keep going at high-achieving pace that you’re used to.  You feel your business is going nowhere, or you realise you’ve headed off into the wrong direction.  You’ve got to get yourself back to the point where you’re full of energy and feeling creative and full of potential. You’re stuck trying to figure out what direction to go in and what to do next. You’ve lost your magic! Entrepreneurs when they lose their magic need to get it back again, quickly!

The good news is that you can find your magic again and create a powerful, passionate, profitable business.

One thing that definitely works for every entrepreneur I know, is not doing everything on their own. They either have business partners, as in my case, or work with a mentor or coach, the thing I do for others. By brainstorming with other creative minds empowers your decision making and thought process.  Sometimes an external perspective really helps. They can be a guide for you while you build your business.

I’m currently working with an awesome entrepreneur. She has a brilliant track record, yet she is the first to admit that having a mentor by your side helps you breathe new energy into your business.

She recently wrote on her blog this passage that I have to admit really moved me.

“He was introduced to me from a friend over a month ago– she said he was a guy I really needed to meet and could help me with my website and online sales. As my previous blogs have mentioned, I am launching into a whole new direction, with a fantastic website to match. Its all thanks to Larry and his patience, he has helped me see the bigger picture and made me realise I have so much to offer, because I am so passionate about my business”.

Many entrepreneurs discover that, as their business grows and they become more successful, business becomes far more complicated. Part of the reason for this is that we and are business are always changing and evolving. But we are so immersed inside of our business there are times when we can’t see the wood from the trees.

It helps immensely when you have somebody that reminds you to devote sufficient time and attention to what really counts in your business.

It is essential that you shift your focus from just working hard to finding ways to work smarter, becoming more efficient, and optimizing your efforts, your hard work will then be multiplied many times over. Take a look at your work day and look for opportunities to streamline your activities and improve the return on your time investment. Then pick out those tasks that will contribute most to your company’s bottom line, then you are doing what successful entrepreneurs focus on.

    Larry, you so hit the nail on the head. When you run your own business it is easy to lose sight of what is important in achieving your goals, and to get bogged down. It takes courage but you have to believe you cannot fail – just that you have to work to find the right route to success. I do think, however, that the use of technology and social media can feel overwhelming sometimes. There is so much out there and you can spread yourself thin. You have to focus on where your clients, and potential clients, are – and keep reminding yourself of that.
