Authenticity and Integrity in Blogging

I know I have been neglecting this blog quite a bit, but it is because I have been spending a lot of time on my Healthy Lifestyles Living blog. I am sure most of you know visit their already and are followers of the blog, and realise it is the place I have established myself as a blogger. That is not to say that this site is not important to me, after all it does carry my name.

Well now the transitions over at the other site have virtually been completed, I am pleased to say I am able to put time back over here.  I suppose a good place for me to start would be looking at what things could make a difference between successful blogs and those that ultimately never gather momentum, fail to reach any significant numbers in traffic, and basically remain unnoticed in the blogosphere.

You have to get people to talk up your blog and to do that you have to do something remarkable. If you do then people will spread the word.

You have to understand this. You can spend loads of time in facebook and twitter. You can interact with many people. Yet the simple truth is that use of social media will not spread the word when your blog is not that remarkable.

As the social media scene gets filled with more and more bloggers the only way any brand can hope to stand out is create something unique, you have to be different. But now here is something to give you all hope, and I mean this, you have one thing within you that really can make you stand out and give you an excellent chance of success. Let me explain.

Before I started out as a blogger I was doing a lot of public speaking. The one thing that I learnt from there that I have brought with me to blogging is that an audience wants honesty and genuineness. Every audience craves genuineness and cannot abide being manipulated. Whatever message we are seeking to communicate or persuade we are therefore duty-bound to ensure that whatever argument we present is done so as honestly and genuinely as possible. This applies as much to blogging as it does to public speaking. It can make the difference between success and failure.

The more focused a speaker is on the truth of a situation and topic–both its emotional and factual components–the more accepting the audience is. It’s a crapshoot whether or not an audience will agree with what you have to say, but it’s virtually certain that no audience will consider anything they perceive to be disingenuous.

Authenticity and integrity are integral to how I both live my life, conduct my business as a life coach, and blog. I gain a lot of business through my blog and as I am providing coaching type advice through it, take my role as a “voice of authenticity” very seriously.

So if you want to stand out, and build a successful blog, no matter what your niche, follow this formula, blog with genuineness +  authenticity + integrity and this will equal success.

Believe me the blogosphere now is filled with people with no integrity what so ever. They come from an industry where words mean nothing, unless constructed for some sales purpose.

Writing from the depths of one’s truth is the best way to stimulate – and hold onto – that trust in the minds and hearts of readers, and if you want a successful blog, don’t ever forget that.

Give your authenticity – be a real voice speaking about a real experience this is a core characteristic of blogs that speak to others. And, people read blogs because of how that experience is expressed. Be genuine to be successful.

Sincerity and truth and genuineness shines through – so let your writing and your blog be a beacon in the blogosphere.
