Rachel what an awesome comment. You are 100% right. Blogging isn’t easy, and making money from it is even harder particulaly if you’re trying to learn to do it on your own. I love the idea of it being a resume, and for a talented master of words like you, i hope it does attract the right eyes that can help you on the next part of your journey.

Mary I think it is so sad to come across a blog that is no longer be updated. It really does take discipline and persistence. I think we should ask ourselves the question ‘why are we doing this’ every month, to make sure we don’t lose our perspective. We recently have seen a good reason for stopping a blog, when Savy decided she wanted to change her direction, and has now opened her new fantastic blog. Maybe even a blog has a life spam. Mind you i hope both my personal blogs will go on for ever, well while i still have a breath of air in me.

It makes me sad to see bloggers come and go, but blogging really is hard and not the money maker or road to instant fame that we’ve seen in the movies. People really have to ponder (and be honest with themselves) about how much they are willing to put into it and what they want to get out of it. And, the answer to neither of those questions should be money or you should just stop now. While the writing from my blog may earn me a few dimes and nickles, I feel it’s true value is similar to a resume – it shows I can be counted on to come up with good writing topics on a regular basis, etc. and gives many samples of my work. I could use it as justification why someone should hire me for a paid writing gig anytime I wanted to pursue one.
