Some of you may begin to fear those dissenting voices are right. You’re thinking maybe you are wasting your time blogging.

You set up your blog. You spend days, even weeks building up the best content you can possibly produce. You spend even more time visiting other blogs and commenting on them. You’re drinking coffee by the gallon. You’re doing all that work on your blog design and everything else while trying to balance it out with your normal daily life.

And the results so far … no comments. No subscribers. No traffic. And definitely no money.

Back in my early days as a blogger, i would be told by a wide variety of people, numerous times, that I was wasting my time blogging. They told me I should be focusing on more important things.

‘Larry, what you need to do is get a real life!‘

I would be sitting in the office at my gym, when a member would pop their head around my door to say hi. They’d find me, almost certainly, staring at a monitor screen.

‘He is on the internet again.’  I suppose most people thought I should stop wasting time blogging, and get back to a real job.

But I was resolute. I enjoyed what I was doing, and I knew could build a business from it.

When you find yourself questioning, your sanity. Asking yourself whether it’s worth pursuing your blogging goals, the question i suggest you ask is:

‘Why am I blogging?’

Let me show you how I would answer that question.

I have a passion for helping other people, and blogging gives me an incredible platform for doing this.

I am a qualified life coach, and personal development addict and this enables me to be able to solve problems that I know affect many out there.

I have both the expertise that others need, and the experiences that others find useful

With the fact that I love helping others make changes in their lives for the better, blogging not only gives me a place to write, but the tools to get a big audience to read it.

I have a product/service to sell, so I can also make money from doing what I love.

Blogging has been a powerful vehicle for me to grow my online business and ecommerce sites.

And here’s my final answer, one that I think is as important, if not more than the rest.

I have a passion, maybe an obsession for blogging. So why shouldn’t I do something I love!

There are so many reasons for blogging, most of which can definitely prove you are not wasting your time blogging.

So… over to you! Tell us in the comments, ‘Why do you blog?’
